This is a once in a lifetime experience, entering the heart of a volcano. You will descend 120 meters into the Thrihnukagigur volcano that erupted 4000 Years ago accompanied by experienced guides.
The dormant Thrihnukagigur volcano in Iceland is the only place on earth where a huge volcanic magma chamber is accessible to humans. The tour enables you to enjoy many of the most amazing things Iceland has to offer - a great mixture of nature, history and adventure. After transfer to the Blafjoll Mountain Cabin you will be met by your guides and walk across a beautiful lava field for 45 minutes before arriving at the volcano. Participants will then descend 120m/400ft through the top crater and down to the ground floor of the magma chamber, accompanied by experienced and well trained guides. After an hour's visit exploring the inside of the volcano you will be able to enjoy Icelandic refreshments before heading back to the city.

Fitness level needed: Average (Difficulty is 2 out of 5 possible).
No knowledge of hiking or climbing needed.
Bring with you: Rainproof outdoor clothing (the temperature inside the crater is about 5-6°C), gloves, bottle of water and hiking shoes.
About the walk: Please note that the walk to the volcano covers some hilly, uneven terrain in a rocky lava field, so good hiking shoes are required. Each way to and from the volcano is approximately 45 minutes.
