Introduction
Day tour to the Eyjafjallajökull eruption area and Þórsmörk nature reserve. Drive to Fimmvörðuháls and walk on warm lava! This tour is a must for the hiker and nature lover!
Itinerary
This tour will take you the eruption from 2010 where the lava is still warm! We start the day with a drive along the beautiful south coast to Skogafoss by road no.1. It is also possible to join the tour there. From Skogafoss we take an exciting drive in a super jeep up the mountain to 850m above sea level. From there we hike between two glaciers, Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull, to the new volcano where we explore the warm lava from 2010. In the afternoon we walk into Þórsmörk nature reserve where we are picked up. On the way out of Þórsmörk we drive across unbridged glacial rivers before returning to Reykjavík in the afternoon. This tour has it all, hiking, off road driving, glaciers and volcanoes.

Seasons
Seasons From 1 July through 15 September
Duration: 12 hours
Guaranteed departures: Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from July 1st-September 15th. Any other day for minimum 4 persons.
Duration: Total 12 hours, hiking 5-6 hours
Pick up: At your accomodation in Reykjavík from 7.30-8:00 or at Seljalandsfoss at 10.00.
Return Details: Transportation back to hotels, guesthouses and Reykjavik city center at approx. 18:00. Note: Bring lunch, good shoes (can be rented), warm clothes, rain gear and a backpack.
Minimum age: 15 years.
Some fitness required.
