This guided 4x4 super-jeep tour will take in many of the biggest attractions in western Iceland and Langjökull, Europe's second-biggest glacier. The tour starts by taking you to the beautiful Þingvellir national park where the Icelandic parliament, the Alþingi, was established in 930, making it the world's oldest functioning legislative body.

Þingvellir is also where the North Atlantic Rift, which separates the North American and European continents, is very prominent. The rift offers a bridge between the two and a veritable no-man’s-land inside the Almannagjá ravine, with the North American continent on one side and the European continent on the other.
From Þingvellir, you will be taken via the Kaldidalur mountain road on to Langjökull, Europe’s second biggest glacier. We will then visit the longest lava cave in Iceland, the former bandit habitat of Surtshellir, named after the giant Surtur who reportedly lived in the cave around the time of settlement.
From Surtshellir, you will be taken via the beautiful Hraunfossar waterfalls to Reykholt, the birth place of Icelandic literature and former home to Snorri Sturluson (1178–1241), Iceland’s main writer, scholar, poet and politician in the 12th and 13th century. Snorri’s hot tub is still intact as is a tunnel leading from his old homestead to the hot tub, the tunnel he was eventually slain in. After seeing Deildartunguhver, Europe’s largest hot spring, you will be taken back to Reykjavik via the scenic Hvalfjörður fjord, where you can still see the remains of old army barracks and a whaling station.
