The Aurora Borealis - the Northern Lights - are a spectacular natural phenomena, usually only visible over the polar regions of the Earth. The lights were often feared in the past and thought to be the realm of the dead; Vikings believed they were reflections of unmarried women who had passed away.

There are still some mysteries surrounding the Northern Lights, but today they are considered somewhat less fearful. The swirling, colourful displays, ranging from white to green, pink, blue or even in rare cases red, are truly an unforgettable sight to behold; neither words nor pictures nor films could do them any justice. This guided 4X4 super-jeep tour takes you on an evening drive to the beautiful black sand beaches of southern Iceland, looking for the mysterious lights dancing across the arctic winter sky. We will make restaurant reservations for you at one of Iceland’s best seafood restaurants, before heading back to Reykjavik, viewing the Aurora on the way.
Note: As the Northern Lights are natural phenomena, sightings can unfortunately not be guaranteed. Nordic Visitor reserves the right to alter the itinerary if needed due to weather conditions, or cancel the tour if weather conditions do not allow for the viewing of the Aurora Borealis. In case of cancellation, a full refund is offered if no suitable date for a replacement tour can be found.
